Simulated genetic efficacy of metapopulation management and conservation value of captive reintroductions in a rapidly declining felid

چکیده

In South Africa, cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) occur as a relictual, unmanaged population of ‘free-roamers’, managed metapopulation across fenced reserves, and in various captive facilities. To ensure that the Cheetah Metapopulation Project (CMP) is not at risk losing overall genetic variation to drift or inbreeding, we propose interventions, including exchanges between free-roamers supplementation with unrelated individuals from captivity. Simulated trajectories diversity under such intervention strategies over time could directly inform conservation action policy towards securing long-term integrity CMP. Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) were genotyped for 172 adult cheetahs free-roamer population, metapopulation, three major Management trajectory models tested including, (1) no intervention, (2) exchange (3) translocation single facility (4) several facilities into metapopulation. Discriminant Analysis Principal Components (DAPC) showed two populations are highly differentiated each other, whilst third genetically more similar 25 generations indicated 1 2 show significant losses heterozygosity due present proportional increase frequencies 1st- 2nd-degree relatives, this pairwise relatedness remain relatively constant 3 4. We emphasise potential importance reservoirs management threatened species recovery.

a comparison of teachers and supervisors, with respect to teacher efficacy and reflection

supervisors play an undeniable role in training teachers, before starting their professional experience by preparing them, at the initial years of their teaching by checking their work within the proper framework, and later on during their teaching by assessing their progress. but surprisingly, exploring their attributes, professional demands, and qualifications has remained a neglected theme i...

phylogeography and genetic diversity of the lesser mouse- eared bat (myotis blythii) in iran

in current study, 63 samples of bat populations collected from differ regions were used for evaluating the geographic variations. twenty cranial and dental characters for traditional morphometric and landmarks method on the ventral, dorsal skull and mandible for geometry morphometric studies were used. statistical analyses of traditional morphometric and geometry morphometric data indicated low...

a contrastive study of rhetorical functions of citation in iranian and international elt scopus journals

writing an academic article requires the researchers to provide support for their works by learning how to cite the works of others. various studies regarding the analysis of citation in m.a theses have been done, while little work has been done on comparison of citations among elt scopus journal articles, and so the dearth of research in this area demands for further investigation into citatio...

assessment of deep word knowledge in elementary and advanced iranian efl learners: a comparison of selective and productive wat tasks

testing plays a vital role in any language teaching program. it allows teachers and stakeholders, including program administrators, parents, admissions officers and prospective employers to be assured that the learners are progressing according to an accepted standard (douglas, 2010). the problems currently facing language testers have both practical and theoretical implications but the first i...

Subspecies Genetic Assignments of Worldwide Captive Tigers Increase Conservation Value of Captive Populations

Tigers (Panthera tigris) are disappearing rapidly from the wild, from over 100,000 in the 1900s to as few as 3000. Javan (P.t. sondaica), Bali (P.t. balica), and Caspian (P.t. virgata) subspecies are extinct, whereas the South China tiger (P.t. amoyensis) persists only in zoos. By contrast, captive tigers are flourishing, with 15,000-20,000 individuals worldwide, outnumbering their wild relativ...
